Track and Field, Assistant Coach

Phillips Academy seeks an Assistant Track and Field coach for Spring 2023.  

  • Working under the Director of Track and Field and alongside the track and field coaching staff, the assistant track and field coach will have experience, competing and/or coaching, in the hurdle events (300m low hurdles and 110m/100m high hurdles) and/or high jump. 
  • The track and field assistant will have the ability to support novice and intermediate hurdlers and/or high jumpers by explaining effective and safe techniques, designing and teaching technical drills, providing feedback on form, etc. 
  • The track and field coach will exhibit a readiness to collaborate with other t&f coaches to implement speed/strength/endurance training plans, supervise practice sessions, assist with the management of meets, promote community values, and offer encouragement to student-athletes. 

Commitment is approximately 20-25 hours per week (Monday- Saturday) starting in the third week of March and continuing through the end of May.  Monday – Friday practices occur after school with Wednesday practices beginning mid-afternoon.  Track meets, home and away, on most Saturdays throughout spring term.  No benefits.   

The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications: 
• Ability to positively motivate, inspire and be role model to high-school aged students. 
• Be adaptable and enjoy working alongside the current coaching staff
